7th ICAERE Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Ireland Chinese Association of Environment, Resources & Energy (ICAERE) was held in Trinity College Dublin on the 6th October 2018 and was a tremendous success. Prof. Hong Jiqing and Prof. Zheng Dawei from the Chinese Embassy in Ireland delivered the keynote speech at the AGM, encouraging the ICAERE community to continue delivering research excellence. The two visiting scholars Dr. Chen Guanghui from Qingdao University and Dr. Li Zebin from East China University of Technology both shared their latest research. Walquiria Simplicio (NUIG), Cheng Tang (UCD), Yumin Yuan (NUIG) and Yunhong Shi (TCD) were awarded ‘‘Best Presentations of the 7th ICAERE AGM’’.

  • Walquiria Simplicio (NUIG): Phosphorus elimination from aqueous solution using iron modified cellulose as biosorbent–-column studies
  • Cheng Tang (UCD): Preliminary study of power generation in a siphon circulation flow of microbial fuel cell – constructed wetland integrated system
  • Yumin Yuan (NUIG): Simultaneous measurement of fifteen rare earth elements using diffusive gradients in thin films
  • Yunhong Shi (TCD): Investigation into the causes of diatom bloom in Vartry reservoirs 

ICAERE Chairman Prof. Zhan Xinmin (NUIG) and Founder Dr. Zhao Yaqian (UCD) acknowledged the significant academic achievements made by the ICAERE members over the past decade.
